NOTES: North of Miami and Fort Lauderdale off Boca Raton, the snorkeling at Red Reef is known for the occasional eel, stingray and sea turtle. The Red Reef is an artificial reef in 3 to 6 feet of water. The best snorkeling is at the south end of Red Reef Park, and has some spots considered good for beginners. You may encounter snapper, grunts and a variety of sponges. There might even be a few small nurse sharks. The best time for snorkeling over the Red Reef is during a slack high tide.
To reach the Red Reef Park snorkeling from US95, use the Palmetto Park Road Exit. Head east on Palmetto Park Road to A1A. Turn north on A1A for 1 mile. The Red Reef is located at 1400 North Ocean Boulevard (A1A) in Boca Raton. Note: the onsite parking is very expensive.
