NOTES: On the edge of Savusavu Bay, there is exceptional snorkeling at Jean-Michael Cousteau Resort on Vanualevu Island. The snorkeling off the beach at Jean-Michael Cousteau Resort is popular, especially right off the little pier. The resort has a snorkeling dive boat that provides access to several locations including one of the best, lighthouse reef. You will also want to check out nearby Namena reef. Overall, when snorkeling at Vanualevu Island, you can expect to find clownfish, coral covered reefs and giant tridacna clams. The onsite marine biologist at Jean-Michael Cousteau Resort can be a big help.
To reach the Vanua Levu Island snorkeling, you'll need to fly into the only international airport in Fiji, Nadi International Airport (NAN), which is served by Fiji Airways, Qantas, and Air New Zealand. Many of the flights arrive very late at night, so plan accordingly.
