Off the northwest coast of Grand Turk, the snorkeling at The Wall is known for the chance to snorkel with big marine life. The Grand Turk Wall begins to drop off at 20 foot depths. There is excellent visibility to observe barracuda, parrotfish, hogfish and Nassau grouper. During spring plankton blooms, you may catch a glimpse of manta rays.
If you're goal is The Wall, you may prefer to snorkel off a boat. Many consider this dive for advanced ocean snorkelers only. If you start from the shore, you'll be treated to scenic reefs on the way out to The Wall.
Grand Turk is located 70 miles southeast of Providenciales and there is no public ferry service.To reach the snorkeling on Turks and Caicos by air, fly into Providenciales International Airport (PLS) located in the middle of the island. To reach Grand Turk from Providenciales, you will need to fly on a domestic airline into Grand Turk McCartney airport (GDT) which takes about 30 minutes. The two inter-island airlines serving Grand Turk are interCaribbean and Caicos Express Airways. TIP - Grand Turk island is very popular with cruise ships that deposit several hundred thousand visitors a year, so plan your days on Grand Turk to avoid these invasions.
