In the Raja Ampat archipelago, there are numerous idyllic snorkeling dive spots with amazing colorful corals in shallow clear waters. The archipelago consists of 1,500 islands in Western Papua, and is known for over 300 species of fish and 600 types of coral. The best Raja Ampat snorkeling can be found off Arborek, Misool and in Kabui Bay. The most beautiful spot is Arborek, but if you've been here in the past, keep in mind that the number and size of boats into the main pier is now limited to protect the coral health and marine diversity. While snorkeling in Raja Ampat, you may encounter black tip reef sharks.
Tip - While snorkeling off Misool, make sure to use a diver down flag since the boaters tend to drive fast and be unaware of snorkelers in the water.
Overall, Raja Ampat is the 3rd most popular snorkel dive spot of all 8 snorkeling dives in Indonesia.
