Northeast of Barcelona and off the coast of L'Estartit on the Costa Brava, the snorkeling off Les Medes Islands offers the chance to dive with barracuda, octopus, grouper, stingrays and eels amongst the rocky reefs. The rocky, uninhabited Les Medes Islands are part of a national wildlife reserve consisting of it's seven islands: Medellot, Meda Gran Island, Meda Petita, les Ferrenelles, Tasco Gros, Tasco Petit and Carall Bernat.
The Illes Medes are located a little over a kilometer offshore of L'Estartit.
Overall, Les Medes Islands is the 1st most popular snorkel dive spot of all 21 snorkeling dives in Spain. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Les Medes Islands including Tossa de Mar, Aigua Xellida, Playa Fosca and Cala El Golfet.
