East of Hagi in the Yamaguchi Prefecture, the snorkeling off Omijima Island is known for spotting goatfish and lionfish. Overall, the rocky dive site has limited visibility of about 30 feet and is not known for diverse marine life. The two main dive sites are near the left of the fish farm building and also near the beach park on the southwest side. Keep in mind that you may be asked to pay for the right to snorkel off these shores. If you plan to snorkel dive near the fish farm, there are several strict rules to follow. The best time of year to snorkel off Omijima Island is August, otherwise, it get pretty cold.
