Off the northeast coast of Yap Island, the snorkeling at Sunrise Reef is known for diverse hard coral formations. It is the largest reef formation off Yap Island and offers quite colorful reefs with lettuce coral and staghorn coral. While Sunrise Reef does not have plentiful marine life, you may encounter hawksbill turtles, stingrays and giant clams in the water with depths from 20 to 80 feet deep. The Sunrise Reef snorkeling is an easy boat-accessed dive site with little current and good visibility.
Yap Island is located in the Western Caroline Island Chain. To reach Yap Island by air, there are weekly flights from Guam and Manila.
Overall, Sunrise Reef is the 4th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 6 snorkeling dives in Micronesia.
