West of San Juan and northeast of Aeropuerto Rafael Hernandez, the snorkeling at Shacks Beach is a family-friendly dive site. Snorkeling at Shacks Beach typically see blue tangs, grunts and goatfish along with the occasional manatee in the 5 to 30 foot deep water. The best time of year for Shacks Beach snorkeling is May to November at low tide for calmest surf.
Shacks Beach can be accessed northeast of the town of Aguadilla from either Villa Montana or Villa Tropical; make sure to ask permission before crossing their property. Off the beach, there are shallow sandstone ledges to cross before the snorkeling starts.
