Southeast of Nassau off Long Island, the snorkeling at Watermelon Beach off Long Island is a popular dive destination. While snorkeling Watermelon Beach, you will encounter various types of parrotfish and damselfish amongst the staghorn coral forest.

To reach the snorkeling at Long Island, most travelers will fly commercial airlines into Nassau on New Providence or fly into Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. To reach the out islands from Nassau, you can either use Bahamas Air (which is known for late departures) or use the mail boat ferry service (393-1064). When flying into Long Island, the main airfield is Deadmans Cay Airport.
