Northeast of Tahiti, the snorkeling at Tetiaroa Island is known for large coral formation in white sand flats. The Tetiaroa Island snorkeling is located about 30 miles northeast of Tahiti.
The best snorkeling is located to the northeast of the airfield on Onetahi and is known as the Pinnacles. With water depth of 15 to 25 feet, there are numerous patch coral reef formations with plentiful reef fish.
To reach Tetiaroa Island snorkeling by air, fly into the Tetiaroa Airport from Fa’a'a International Airport (PPT) in Papeete on the island of Tahiti. The main international airlines serving Fa’a’a Airport are Air Tahiti Nui (Los Angeles), Hawaiian Airlines (Honolulu) and Air France. To continue on to one of the many islands within French Polynesia, the inter-island airline is Air Tahiti. Due to unusual flight times, you might appreciate the day room rentals at the Intercontinental Tahiti.
Overall, Tetiaroa is the 9th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 13 snorkeling dives in French Polynesia.
