Off the eastern coast of Nicaragua, the snorkeling in the Archipelago of San Andres is known for good snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea. The water visibility is known to be very clear. The Archipelago of San Andres consists of the islands of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina. It is part of the Seaflower UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The best snorkeling can be found around Providencia. While popular with tourist snorkelers, the areas of Johnny Cay and Aquario should be avoided due to over-crowding.

To reach San Andres by air, fly into Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport, which is a 90 minute flight from the mainland. There are flights from the Columbia mainland, Panama City and San Jose, Costa Rica. This archipelago is very popular with city dwellers in Columbia.
