Southwest of Naples off the Amalfi Coast, the snorkeling off Capri is popular for the water clarity and high visibility. Located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, there are two well known snorkeling dive sites on Capri including the Blue Grotto and the La Fontelina Beach Club.

Situated on the northwest side of Capri, the Blue Grotto snorkeling dive site is a large cave in the rocky coastline. Also known as Grotta Azzurra, it is usually accessed by boat, but can also be accessed by road and then following the the Via Krupp footpath. There is also another good snorkeling dive site called Grotta Verde.

On the southeast side of Capri, the snorkeling off the La Fontelina Beach Club offers beautiful rocks teaming with marine life. In addition, the snorkeling off Hotel Luna on the southeast side is equally popular.

To reach the snorkeling on Capri, you will want to use one of the ferry lines. The ferries from Naples (60 minutes) and Sorrento (40 minutes) run all year long. Keep in mind that there are two types of ferry service: slow and fast hydrofoil. There is also a seasonal ferry from the towns of Positano, Amalfi and Salerno. The ferry terminal is on the northeast side of the island. Capri is known for its excellent public transportation.

Overall, Salina Island is the 14th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 20 snorkeling dives in Italy.
