East of Havana and Matanzas on the northshore of Cuba, the snorkeling at Varadero is known for its offshore coral reef. The Varadero area encompasses a 10 mile long zone from Matanzas Bay to the west edge of the Jardines del Ray archipelago. The main coral reef is located just offshore in 3 to 60 foot deep waters. In addition, there is great boat-accessed snorkeling about 15km northeast at Parque Submarine Cayo Piedra Del Norte where you may encounter several wrecks.
To reach the snorkeling on Cuba, fly into Havana Jose Marti International Airport located on the northwest side of the island. There is another smaller airport nearby called Aeropuerto Santa Marta.
Overall, Varadero is the 9th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 16 snorkeling dives in Cuba.
