Southeast of Havana on the southeast shore of the Bay Of Pigs, the snorkeling at Playa Giron offers scenic patch coral reef and diverse reef fish to observe. Within Bahia de Cochinos, there are many beautiful coral formations. While snorkeling Playa Giron, you may encounter damselfish, snapper, angelfish, butterflyfish, cardinalfish, jawfish, gobies and parrotfish.
The best Playa Giron snorkeling is just north of the village of Playa Giron at a dive site called Puna Perdiz. This shore-accessed dive site is reached via metal steps from the parking. Start snorkeling directly offshore for up 300 feet.
To reach the snorkeling on Cuba, fly into Havana Jose Marti International Airport located on the northwest side of the island. The Playa Giron is located 200km southeast of Havana.
Overall, Playa Giron is the 11th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 18 snorkeling dives in Cuba. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Playa Giron including Playa Larga, Punta Perdiz and Playa Maceo.
