Honeymoon Island State Park Snorkeling

The 14th most popular snorkel dive spot in Florida Gulf Coast.

Northwest of Tampa and Dunedin, the snorkeling at Honeymoon Island State Park is known for its remote feeling and family-friendly waters. While at Honeymoon Island State Park, you will feel like you are far offshore of the Florida coast line. The island is directly connected with the mainland by the Dunedin Causeway which is located north of Clearwater.

To reach the snorkeling at Honeymoon Island State Park from Tampa, head south on US275 to Hillsborough Avenue. Head west on Hillsborough Avenue (SR580) to SR586. Veer left on SR586 across the the Dunedin Causeway into the park.

Since the wind and surf conditions can significantly affect the water clarity, you may need to try snorkeling at several locations within Honeymoon Island State Park to find the optimal dive site. Snorkeling on the Florida Gulf Coast, such as at Honeymoon Island State Park, is not known for good visibility. Matter of fact, the snorkeling is known for very low water clarity in the range from 1 foot to 7 feet most of the year.

Overall, Honeymoon Island State Park is the 14th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 18 snorkeling dives in Florida Gulf Coast.
