East of Bundaberg in the Coral Sea, the snorkelling at Cochrane Artificial Reef offers numerous aircraft, wrecks and tanks to check out. Within the Woongarra Marine Park, the Cochrane Artificial Reef spans a rectangle of 800m by 400m. The wrecks are covered with hard and soft corals, along with sponges and sea fans. It is a boat-accessed snorkeling dive site located about 2.75 miles off the coast from Bundaberg. There are regular charter boat tours out to the dive site.
Overall, Cochrane Reef is the 34th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 43 snorkeling dives in Queensland. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Cochrane Reef including Bargara Beach, Hoffmans Rocks and Barolin Rocks.
