Big Green Hole Snorkeling

The 13th most popular snorkel dive spot in Long Island.

Southeast of Nassau off Long Island, the snorkeling at Big Green Hole is known for the deep green lagoon from an old sink hole. In this shore-accessed dive, the water is about 10 feet deep with 20 foot visibility.

It is located south of Clarence Town off Lochabar.

To reach the snorkeling at Long Island, most travelers will fly commercial airlines into Nassau on New Providence or fly into Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. To reach the out islands from Nassau, you can either use Bahamas Air (which is known for late departures) or use the mail boat ferry service (393-1064). When flying into Long Island, the main airfield is Deadmans Cay Airport.

Tip: Keep in mind while snorkeling Big Green Hole off Long Island, the water temperture is known to vary greatly from summer (78F-84F) to winter (68F-76F).

Overall, Big Green Hole is the 13th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 15 snorkeling dives in Long Island.
