West of Brisbane, the snorkeling off North Stradbroke Island offers several good snorkel destinations. The Amity Point Beach is a good starting point for enjoying North Stradbroke Island snorkeling. Located on the north end, it is known for calm waters. The western end of the beach may be more interesting. The Point Lookout Beach is known for excellent marine life, but can only be attempted on very calm days since it is unprotected. An excursion off the island is called Manta Bommie, which is a boat-accessed snorkeling dive to a manta ray cleaning station. It is also best on very calm days.
North Stradbroke Island is a 25 minute ferry ride from downtown Brisbane.
Overall, North Stradbroke Island is the 35th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 43 snorkeling dives in Queensland. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby North Stradbroke Island including Norman Reef, Heron Island, Hamilton Island, Lady Elliot Island, Agincourt Reef and Langford Reef.
