Whangarei Marine Reserve Snorkeling

The 3rd most popular snorkel dive spot in New Zealand.

North of Auckland and southeast of Whangarei, the snorkeling at the Whangarei Harbour Marine Reserve is a popular dive site for beginners. The Whangarei Harbour Marine Reserve is located in Reotahi. While snorkeling, you may encounter nudibranch, triplefins and pipefish.

To reach the snorkeling dive site from Whangarei, head southeast to Whangarei Heads. Just past McLeods Bay, continue on Reotahi Road to Beach Road. At the end, use the car park opposite of Motukaroro Island.

To reach Auckland by air, fly into Auckland Airport (AKL), which is located south of Auckland.

Overall, Whangarei Marine Reserve is the 3rd most popular snorkel dive spot of all 10 snorkeling dives in New Zealand.
