Old Head Blueway Snorkel Trail Snorkeling

The 2nd most popular snorkel dive spot in Ireland.

West of Dublin and Westport in County Mayo, the Old Head snorkel trail is part of the well-known Blueway Snorkel Trail system. The snorkel trail starts at Old Head Beach, which is located west of Westport and only 3.5km to the east of Louieburgh. Old Head Beach is a popular sandy beach that is safe for snorkeling when the lifeguards are on duty. The Old Head Blueway Snorkel Trail starts to the west of the pier wall and head north for about 0.5km to the western headland. During Old Head snorkeling, you may encounter crabs, schools of fish and anemones. With the cool waters, you may want to use a thin wetsuit when snorkeling at Old Head.
