East of Reykjavík in Thingvellir National Park, the snorkeling in the Silfra dive spot offer freshwater with exceptional clairty. The freshwater of Silfra is from glacial runoff and is quite cold, so a wetsuit is required when snorkeling at this dive site. The snorkeling tours typically take 30 to 40 minutes and visit dive spots such as Silfra Lagoon, Silfra Cathedral, Big Crack and Silfra Hall.

The Silfra Fissure is located about 60 minutes east of Reykjavik by auto. To reach the Silfra snorkeling from Reykavik, head north on Highway 1 to Mosfellsbaer. Turn right heading east on Highway 36 to Thingvellir National Park.
