Northeast of Barcelona and Palamos on the Costa Brava, the snorkeling at Playa Fosca is known for its sand flats and underwater rocks. Within the Balearic Sea, the best snorkeling is at the north end of the beach out to Castell de Sant Esteve.

Overall, Playa Fosca is the 19th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 21 snorkeling dives in Spain. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Playa Fosca including Les Medes Islands, Tossa de Mar, Aigua Xellida and Cala El Golfet.
