Southeast of Havana on the east coast of the Bay Of Pigs, the snorkeling at Punta Perdiz offers a protected coastline with a fringing reef. While snorkeling, you may encounter angelfish, damselfish, bluehead wrasse, butterflyfish, sea urchins and sea whips. There is a coral reef about 100m offshore, which is where the best snorkeling is found. Prior to the reef, there is pretty uninteresting sand flats in 3m deep water.
Punta Perdiz is located about 18km south of Playa Larga and about 8km north of Playa Giron. There is usually an entrance fee to access the snorkeling spot. Since the rocks are quite sharp, use the ladder right in front of the restaurant.
To reach the snorkeling on Cuba, fly into Havana Jose Marti International Airport located on the northwest side of the island. The Bay of Pigs is located 180km southeast of Havana.
Overall, Punta Perdiz is the 17th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 18 snorkeling dives in Cuba. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Punta Perdiz including Playa Larga, Playa Maceo and Playa Giron.
