Southeast of Fort Walton Beach in Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, the snorkeling at the Seahorse Snorkel Reef offers an artifical reef to enjoy. The artifical reef was installed and maintained by the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. It is located about 715 feet from shore in 15 foot deep water and is best accessed via a kayak with a diver down flag. Since there is usually some surf here, it is best to plan for a windless day with low surf conditions. While snorkeling at Seashorse Snorkel Reef, you may encounter red snapper, octopus and spotted eagle rays.
Overall, Seahorse Snorkel Reef is the 13th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 16 snorkeling dives in Florida Panhandle. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Seahorse Snorkel Reef including Destin Jetty, Dolphin Snorkel Reef, Turtle Snorkel Reef and Grouper Snorkel Reef.
