Southeast of Fort Walton Beach at Inlet Beach, the snorkeling at the Grouper Snorkel Reef offers an artifical reef to enjoy. The artifical reef was installed and maintained by the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. It is located about 970 feet from shore in 18 foot deep water and is best accessed via a kayak with a diver down flag. Since there is usually some surf here, it is best to plan for a windless day with low surf conditions. While snorkeling at Grouper Snorkel Reef, you may encounter grouper, stingrays, wrasse and green sea turtles.
Overall, Grouper Snorkel Reef is the 15th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 16 snorkeling dives in Florida Panhandle. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Grouper Snorkel Reef including Destin Jetty, Dolphin Snorkel Reef, Seahorse Snorkel Reef and Turtle Snorkel Reef.
