West of Kadena Air Base in the East China Sea, the snorkeling at Tropical Beach is popular for the visibility. You can expect to see healthy corals and diverse marine life.

The Tropical Beach snorkeling is located northeast of Naha International Airport and southwest of Kadena Air Base.

The snorkeling on Okinawa is best from May through October when the water temperature is more enjoyable for snorkelers. However, that is also the prime time for the stinging Habo Jellyfish, which is a type of box jellyfish. Since 2012, the local authorities have been posting more snorkeling restrictions/prohibitions at Okinawa beaches, so make sure to look for signs and follow them to avoid being arrested.

To reach the snorkeling in Okinawa by air, you will need to fly into Okinawa Naha Airport (OKA) on southern end of island. If coming from MCAS Futenma, the Tropical Beach is a 10 minuted drive.

Overall, Tropical Beach is the 15th most popular snorkel dive spot of all 19 snorkeling dives in Japan. Several of the better snorkeling spots are nearby Tropical Beach including Cape Zanpa, Sunabe Seawall, Onna Point, Kadena Seawall, Manza Beach and Tancha Bay.
